The AV-8B Harrier II is a vertical/short takeoff and landing (V/STOL) attack aircraft developed by McDonnell Douglas (now part of Boeing) and British Aerospace for the U.S. Marine Corps and several other international operators. Introduced in the 1980s, the AV-8B is an upgraded version of the original Harrier, featuring enhanced avionics, improved weapons systems, and greater range. Its unique V/STOL capability allows it to operate from short runways, aircraft carriers, and even makeshift airfields, making it highly versatile for various combat scenarios. The Harrier II can perform a range of missions, including close air support, reconnaissance, and anti-ship strikes.
