Lagoa do Fogo is one of the most iconic vistas of the island of Sao Miguel and the Azores in general. Lagoa do Fogo (Fire Lake) is located in a caldera in central Sao Miguel and is part of the municipality of Ribeira Grande. The border of the lake is covered in volcanic pumice which floats when thrown into the crystalline clear water. Sitting on the shores of Lagoa do Fogo one hears the wind, the rippling of the water, the birds, and if one listens close enough the voice of God. This is truly a spiritual location.
