BA2304FAC01Z 5X7 Frameable Art Card of Francesco Orlandi Propeller Balloon Adaptation of a gouache and watercolor painting of Francesco Orlandi’s balloon flying over a Mediterranean harbour town near Bologna,Italy. Capturing the attention of crowds of spectators below, Orlandi’s aerial creation consisted of a gas balloon complemented below by a parachute (referred to in historical documentation as an inventerted conical hot air balloon). This is one of several pieces of ballooning art and ephemera depicting Italian Aeronaut Francesco Orlandi’s flight from the crowded public gardens of Parco Montagnola in Bologna, Itlaly to the shores of the Mediterranean Sea on November 6, 1828.
