Bamidbar greeting card

"Bamidbar" (In the Wilderness) is the large Hebrew word in the centre of the embroidery pattern, and is also the Hebrew Name for the Biblical book called Numbers. The embroidery pattern recalls the wanderings of the Israelites through the Wilderness of Sinai. Their journeys are listed in Numbers 33, and those place names, from Rameses to Jericho, are stitched around the border. A medley of blackwork patterns evokes their travels towards the Promised Land.
