    Bansuri Large Coffee Mug

    Bansuri Large Coffee Mug

The bansuri is a transverse flute that originated in the Indian subcontinent. It is traditionally made from a single hollow shaft of bamboo with six or seven finger holes. The bansuri is revered as Lord Krishna's divine instrument and is often associated with Krishna's Rasa lila dance. The name bansuri originates from the Sanskrit word bans for wood and the word sur for musical note(s). The bansuri is a generic term for any flute made of wood, although some are now also made of metal. The bansuri is an ancient instrument, and flute-like instruments are seen in paintings in very old Buddhist, Hindu, and Jain temples. The bansuri was traditionally used as a soprano instrument primarily for accompaniment in lighter compositions including film music. The bansuri is a relatively expensive instrument to make, as only certain species of bamboo are suitable for making it. The holes in the instrument are measured and burned into the bamboo with hot metal skewers to prevent the material from splitting and altering the sound. After the drilling, each finger hole is sanded to ensure smoothness and an airtight seal between the instrument and the player's fingertips. The bansuri is a beautiful and versatile instrument that can be used to play a wide variety of music. It is a popular instrument in Indian classical music, as well as in folk and popular music.

It arrived defective - and support bent over backwards to help. The replacement was perfect. Shockingly pleasant interaction, all told. The picture and text both look great.

Much better than expected, the print is clear and not murky at all as I found with redbubble mug prints. Its a big mug! I like! Very impressed! It's a single colour but the detail of the logo and shield came out rather well.
