Bear Paw Battlefield, Nez Perce Flight of 1877 Magnet

The Bear Paw Battlefield, in north central Montana, was the location of the final battle between the U.S. Cavalry and the Nez Perce people the latter surrendering. Chief Joseph (Hin-mah-too-yah-lat-kekt ) tired of fighting and seeing his people die he gave a speech, ending with with the words, "From where the sun now stands, I will fight no more forever." The battlefield is now within the Nez Perce National Historical Park that spans parts of Montana, Idaho, Oregon and Washington.
