Beautiful Great Blue Heron Family (photo) Tile

Great Blue Heron Family on a ceramic trivet. My husband and I spent an entire day with this pair at the Viera Wetlands in Viera, Florida. The male would bring special branches picked with care. A few times if she was busy he would try and weave the branches himself. She would always rearrange them after he flew off. When he brought her a fish, they would do a dance, wrapping their necks around one another, then like a deep kiss he would slip the fish down her throat. The little ones would peck in her throat feeding on the fish. We weren’t sure if the fish was already digested or not. At the end of the day, they’d do another neck dance that ended with a heart shaped pose, then he'd fly away and she would settle into her nest. It was a most precious day in the wetlands.
