The Atlantic Puffin spends the first 7 years of its life in the harsh conditions at sea. After this time it has reached maturity and will come ashore and find a life partner and produce one chick. It can travel several miles on a fishing trip to find its stable diet of sand eels. Once it returns it will rest on the cliff tops to make sure its safe to return to its burrow.
