The "Binoculars Building" is in the Venice neighbourhood of Los Angeles, California. When this photograph was taken in 2000, the building was known as the Chiat/Day Building. The building was constructed in 1991 for the advertising agent Chiat/Day (now TBWA\Chiat\Day) and designed by architect Frank Gehry. The large public artwork "Giant Binoculars" was created in 1991, designed by artists Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen. The "Giant Binoculars" sculpture covers both a car and pedestrian entrance on the street-facing façade; the entrance to the parking garage is between the two telescopes of the binoculars. The architecture style is expressionist. Google acquired this building in 2011. This photograph was taken with a film camera, scanned and then digitally edited. Since the photograph was taken, the trees have grown to above the roof of the white building on the left.
