Birth of Venus (angels detail) (1863) by Alexandre Cabanel is a vintage Victorian Era fine art mythology portrait painting. A mythological scene featuring several angels flying in the sky in heaven. Birth of Venus is one of the best known examples of 19th century academic art. The painting was purchased by the emperor Napoleon III. About the artist: Alexandre Cabanel (1823-1889) was a successful academic painter, his genre was Academicism, academic art is a style which practiced under the movements of Neoclassicism and Romanticism.
