Ohara Koson was well known in the early 1900s for his nature art featuring flowers, birds, insects and mammals. 'Blooming Lotus Flowers' is one of the Japanese artists more well known paintings. It features a Lotus flower with one full bloom, two different stages of buds and one expired blossom revealing the seed pod. Also shown are the large pad-like leaves as well as fresh young leaves just beginning to open up to receive sunlight.
