    This image is a panoramic view of the Blue Ridge Mountains, part of the Appalachian Range of North America. This particular shot was taken from the side of the US321 Highway, in the High Country of North Carolina, just south of the picturesque mountain town of Blowing Rock. This view was taken on a cold winter's evening in January 2011, with the rolling hilltops as far away as Linville looking fantastic with the blues and oranges of this sunset. I could honestly have stayed up on the road side all evening watching this particular sunset take shape the way it did.
