Boats at low tide in St Ives Harbour, Cornwall. With the ancient houses with yellow green roofs of the village behind them.
The changing light touches the houses and reflects off of the remaining pools of water. The clouds amass above adding a softness of texture against the sharper lines of boat and house.
St Ives is well known for it’s amazing light and has been sought out by many artists over the years. I saw a TV programme on it ages ago and they said it was due to the unusual layout and that there is light coming from more than one side. Whatever the reason St Ives is a truly magical places that draws locals and holidaymakers alike.
For me it was the changing light and the reflections that pulled me into the scene. You could sit and smell the salty air and listen to the buzz of the harbour activity yet there was a stillness in the harbour itself and a brooding sky.

The cushion is small to medium sized. It can be washed. It is well constructed. The material used is pleasant and feels decent quality. It has a very slight plush feel which is good. It is well labelled and its care clearly stated. Theres nothing not to like about it. All in all a good item. The deduction of one star overall is due to long delays in delivery to the UK. It's not clear if this was due to Zazzle or somewhere else in the chain as I did not receive status updates of dispatch or progress. I cannot comment anymore on that other than to say that was our experience but it may not be the same for you. The printing was surprisingly close to what we were expecting. Its an art piece and on material so its hard to assess the precision of printing but it seems close to the original. The soft lines are reproductions of the original. The colour is a fair reflection of the painting. This was printed in the US and it looks like US quality. No issues.
