BUKVAR' - Primer of Karion Istomin Poster

Created for the Tsar's children in Moscow in 1694, the "Primer of Karion Istomin" uses both text and images as emblems in its presentation of the letters of the Old Church Slavonic alphabet. The text was written by Karion Istomin (1648-1717) and the images are from engravings by Leontii Bunin. The images reproduced here are from facsimiles of the original (archived in the National Public Library of M.E. Saltykov-Shchedrin in St. Petersburg) which were published in 1981 under the title "Bukvar' Kariona Istomina" by the Leningrad publisher Avrora. I like the design features on the website. They enable the fitting of a good quality Print to an existing frame. This Print was of excellent quality. I would buy again. One small gripe is that the image was not centred horizontally (about 3mm out) so needed trimming. No great hardship and may have been my fault in the setting-up. Next time, I would choose to set the text below the picture to a smaller font. Overall - Thank You! Looks good in its frame - Just as expected. I had a very expensive Gallery print of this before. It got damaged - hence the replacement. It compares very well.
