Cabo da Roca Portugal Magnet

Cabo da Roca is a prominent cape located at the westernmost point of continental Europe. Situated in the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park within the Lisbon District of Portugal, it has long been recognised as a significant landmark. The headland rises dramatically about 150 metres above the Atlantic Ocean, offering sweeping, dramatic views of the vast sea, rugged coastline, and the surrounding Serra de Sintra mountains. Historically, it was believed to be the edge of the known world until the Age of Discovery. The most prominent structure on the cape is the Cabo da Roca Lighthouse, which has guided maritime traffic along the hazardous coast since its completion in 1772. Near the lighthouse stands a monument inscribed with the precise geographical coordinates (38°47′N, 9°30′W) and the famous quote from Portuguese poet Luís de Camões: "Onde a terra acaba e o mar começa" (Where the land ends and the sea begins). A popular tourist destination, it offers scenic walking trails, stunning sunsets, and a visitors centre.
