California Palm Springs Area Magnet
La Quinta was a small resort hidden away from the regular path of Palm Springs tourists in 1926. The original small town named La Quinta earned its named from the Spanish missionaries; it was the 5th stop (la quinta) on their trail of settlements. In the area of today's Los Angeles International Airport was the 2nd stop (el segundo- the modern city with that very name. )
This winter day on which I took the photograph is unusual - a mostly grey cloud is was enough to show the vibrant colours of the famous grounds of this resort.
