Campanula Cluster (Blue Balloon Flowers) --- Mouse Mat

I have been in love with blue Balloon Flowers (Campanula) for more than 20 years... A good example of how a discovery in the local nursery can become a prominent cluster of smiling faces in your gardens! Campanula prefer full sun to look their best, but I coax them to stand tall in sun/shade by clipping off their stem shoots when about 8 inches high. This expands their branch structure, producing more blooms and lending stability. The stems do grow a bit shorter, but they are equally beautiful. As a precaution against wind, I line their boundaries with twig branch stakes that disappear into the foliage. Like many perennials they will bloom for a longer period if you deadhead (clip) their spent blossoms. A favourite blue flower perennial! Campanula pairs well with almost any other colour flower.
