After an arduous, evening climb from Fobes Saddle in the San Jacinto Mountains up to the breathtaking crest in the darkness of night, we were forced to pitch our tent in the first wide space we could find. In the morning, as the first rays of sun showed us ... we'd stumbled onto one of the most beautiful camping spots on the entire Pacific Crest Trail.
