Canadian Marble Fox Poster

It's probably easy to think that this is a made up animal, but it is a real fox though there are statements that are misleading. The Canadian Marble Fox is not a breed or species on its own, it's actually a colour morph of the common Red Fox. This is not a natural occurrence but rather selective breeding for their coat, usually within the fur industry. It is true that this can happen naturally in the wild although it would be extremely rare, it was the fur trade that popularised it. The Canadian Marble Fox is not a distinct wild species but rather a name for the selective breeding that has eventually ended up with what you see in this image. This is why Canadian Marble Foxes are generally captive bred and although it's sometimes referred to as the Arctic Marble Fox it is not an Arctic fox at all, but rather a Red Fox. Contrary to popular belief, foxes do not make great pets. The Canadian Marble Fox is an omnivorous species so it eats plants and meat such as berries, fruits, fish, insects, carrion and voles. In captivity, which is pretty much all of them, they can live up to 14 years. Though not considered endangered, I chose to create this image due to the fact that it is beautiful to look at and looks great on any wall of the home.
