National flag of Cape Verde The Cape Verdean national flag has a blue background with horizontal white and red stripes in the lower half. Overlapping the stripes to the left are 10 yellow stars, which represent the main islands in the nation. It was adopted in 1992, and has a 2:3 ratio.
