St. Lucia Day on December 13th is held in Sweden. A young girl is chosen wo be Lucia and is wearing a crown of lights symbolizing the light of the world is Christ and giving to others. She is serving coffee and Swedish Coffee bread to those in a hospital. St. Lucia was a martyred and made a Saint for feeding the very poor. This is a big observation in Sweden and for those of Scandinavian descent. Traditional foods are served after the ceremony takes place. The traditional robe worn stands for righteousness.
