The beautiful green, salmon and yellow illuminated bubble of gas from the Cat’s Paw Nebula in the constellation Scorpius within the Milky Way Galaxy. This is where new stars are formed some 5,000 light years from Earth and our Solar System. This stunning Cat Paw image was captured by the Spitzer Space Telescope, an infrared imaging satellite orbiting the Sun and trailing the Earth. The Cat’s Paw Nebula was first discovered by the astronomer John Herschel in 1837. The colourful glowing stars and gas clouds almost look like a peony floral arrangement.
