Central Stanley papercut painting mug

The original piece consists of a white pearlescent papercut outline of central Stanley, capital of the Falkland Islands, layered on top of a painted (acrylic) background. The piece was based on a photograph taken by the artist in 2017. Roxanne uses only a scalpel to create her papercuts; the paper is cut away to leave behind the design. Due to the numerous different stages involved this piece took approximately 12 hours to create. Roxanne is an 8th generation Falkland Islander and the Islands first papercutting artist. She works out of her studio in the back garden of her lovely old cottage in Stanley. Her work has been exhibited locally, predominantly at The Pink House Gallery alongside the work of Vicky Chater Art (look her up!). Since 2012 Heart of the Falklands has mainly focused on developing a collection of unique products containing iconic Falkland Islands sand. The Falkland Islands is Roxanne's passion and being able to make beautiful and unique items that connect people to the Falklands is an honour.
