Cherokee Woopecker (Dalala) - kid's tee

The pileated woodpecker (ᏓᎳᎳ - Dalala) is a traditional Cherokee warrior/hunter symbol. The woodpecker in the image is composed of the Cherokee word for hunter, ᎦᏃᎭᎵᏙᎯ (ganohalidohi). As it drums on the wood (ᎠᏓ - ada), the sound dalala (ᏓᎳᎳ) resonates through the forest. It is after the bugs (ᏥᎪᏯ - tsgoya) and worms (ᎤᏥᏯ - utsiya) hidden in the wood.
