Yerba Maté is a popular cultural alternative to coffee in Argentina and Paraguay and is gaining in popularity worldwide. Yerba mate is the national drink of Paraguay and is drunk from a gourd, using a bombilla 'straw'. It is made from the leaves of the Ilex paraguariensis plant.
