Christmas Card: Father Kino's Christmas Holiday Card
Father Kino was a Catholic priest, missionary and explorer who founded 24 missions in Arizona and Mexico in the late 1600s. This photo shows a bronze statue of him on his faithful horse on a stone pedestal, in Tucson, Arizona. He wears a cape and a broad hat, and has his right hand clenched over his heart. His horse has its head lowered, and wears a seasonal Santa hat on each ear (perhaps put there by a festive local). The photo is shot looking up at them, showing a few green trees in the lower background and blue sky behind all. Copyright Gail Storrs 2007.
