Circle Seigaiha Bicycle Playing Cards

Seigaiha is a pattern that was popular during the Edo period. In the Genroku era, a lacquer craftsman named Kanagai Kaitou designed this pattern. 'Seigaiha' is the name of a piece of Gagaku music, and it is said that the performers wore clothing with the Seigaiha pattern when dancing. The pattern consists of waves divided into four parts, and it was popularized by Kanagai Kaitou during the Bunroku era. (From 'Kamon Hyakuwashi (2)' by Niwamoto Mototsugu). This design was created based on the same book (2013/5/3).
