I started shooting clouds in middle school, so that the skies in my paintings would be more realistic, but the new medium soon dominated my focus. Photographs help me understand the universe: my surroundings, far-flung cultures and landscapes, microscopic and telescopic details. Every photograph taken or viewed presents me an opportunity to investigate the universe and appreciate its beautiful quirks.
Moving from one coast to the other and back has given me cherished opportunities to shoot at sites across the country. At home, geometry in shadows, fragments of architecture, and textures in nature draw my eye.
