"Impression, Sunrise" is Impressionism's eponymous work. The name of the artistic movement was derived from the title when critics distastefully referred to it as embodying a trend which they disapproved of.
Claude Monet (1840-1826) was one of the founders of French impressionist movement. He is perhaps most noted for his paintings of lilies and water.
