Codex Manesse Reinmar the Fiddler CC0716 Birthday Card
Birthday card inspired by Codex Manesse, a mediaeval book of love songs. The codex was written and illustrated in Germany between c. 1304 and c. 1340 for the Manesse family.
This illustration is called Herr Reinmar der Fiedler (Reinmar the Fiddler). There are also two women in the picture, but I picked out the sweet and kind looking fiddler and also asked him to play a mediaeval song for the 'birthday child'.
The mediaeval song is full of hope:
Wind is thin
sun warm
the earth overflows
with good things
After that comes the birthday greeting:
Wishing you the
happiest
of birthdays

This card is great fun and good quality. I loved the humour inside and on the back. There is the opportunity to change the orientation of this card from landscape to portrait, which I did. It is relatively straightforward to amend the typeface to fit the new orientation. It was well packaged with no plastic. The printing on this card is excellent.
