Blooming rabbitbrush adds a brilliant touch of gold to the bank of the Colorado River in Fruita, Colorado. The green cottonwoods on the opposite shore shade a lake (out of view) at Fruita Open Space park. Beyond them loom the maroon-toned cliffs of McInnis Canyons National Conservation Area. A new bike and pedestrian trail leads through James M. Robb Colorado River State Park along Little Salt Wash Creek to downtown Fruita. At this point, the creek flows into the river.
