I had no idea that the circus was such a popular attraction in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. It was just one of the many things that took me by surprise in the small Central Asian country. Bishkek's Circus was built in 1976, during the golden era of Soviet inspired architecture. Bishkek today has a large stock of communist inspired buildings. Some say Bishkek is reminiscent of Moscow in the 1980's, with large public squares and grand brutalist style buildings. Tourism in Bishkek is on the rise, and many Americans appreciate the laid back way of life that Kyrgyzstan is known for.
