The Métis people originated in the 1700s when French and Scottish fur traders married Aboriginal women, such as the Cree, and Anishinabe (Ojibway). Their descendants formed a distinct culture, collective consciousness and nationhood in the Northwest. Distinct Métis communities developed along the fur trade routes. This bottle cooler is exceptional for Cree people The front is a beautiful artistic Cree design On the back of your cooler is a beautiful, creative example of a vintage Cree Métis coat, 1874. Red River area Canada. Métis women in some communities were creating quillwork clothing well into the 20th century.
