Creux du Van Switzerland Postcard

Creux du Van is a spectacular natural rocky cirque, often described as a natural amphitheatre, located in the Jura mountains near Noiraigue. It features massive limestone cliffs that drop vertically for over 160 metres, forming a horseshoe shape that spans approximately one kilometre in width. Hikers can reach the rim of the cirque via trails from Noiraigue or other nearby villages, enjoying dramatic views into the depths and across the Val de Travers. Hiking to Creux du Van offers a different experience than typical Swiss Alpine routes, showcasing the dramatic limestone formations of the Jura region. The trail along the rim provides continuous, breathtaking perspectives of the sheer drop-offs.
