The Daintree is estimated to be 180 million years old, making it the oldest continuously surviving tropical rainforest in the world. Located in North Queensland, it is a place where the rainforest meets the reef, housing species that have remained virtually unchanged for millennia. Among its most striking inhabitants is the Southern Cassowary, a large, flightless bird with a brilliant blue neck and a prehistoric-looking casque.
