Dictator Anti-Trump Checks and Balances Resist Card

On February 12, 2017, Senior Advisor to then-President Trump Stephen Miller said on Face The Nation, "[T]he powers of the President to protect our country are very substantial and will not be questioned," echoing the argument that the US government lawyer made to, and which was rejected by, the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in connection with the first Muslim Travel Ban case. Seven years later, the Supreme Court told us that the President can be a dictator, and never be held accountable for it, so long as he's doing an "official act." In that same week, the Republican candidate for president, Donald Trump, told us that one of his first acts in his second administration would be to have his enemies arrested because he didn't like that they challenged his authority to do bad things. Meanwhile, President Biden made a public speech saying that while the Supreme Court gave him the immunity to commit crimes, he didn't plan to commit any. While we can't immediately control the Supreme Court, we can definitely not vote for the guy who tells us that he'll be a dictator starting on day one. Remind the former president that he is not a dictator and all presidents are subject to the checks and balances of the US Constitution and that each of us acting individually and collectively will question their power and authority.
