DIVERSITY: SHARE our commonalities, RESPECT our differences. The concept of diversity has become either a buzzword or a buzzkill, depending on who you talk to. But fundamentally it comes down to RESPECT for all humans (or if in an ecological context, all living things). We are all humans, with the same genome, with far more in common than we are different. Those commonalities should be shared, celebrated, used to bind us together. But we are also very, very different, often in ways that the dominant culture cannot see, and those differences must be recognised, celebrated, and respected, as gateways to our individuality and amazing, yes, diversity. We are all one species AND We are a glorious rainbow of differences. Diversity is a wonderful thing.
