Duchess of Windsor's Emeralds Metal Tree Decoration
King Edward VIII abdicated the throne of England for the woman he loved. Her name was Wallis. She loved jewels and he loved to give them to her. Edward had Cartier make a necklace with enormous pear shaped emeralds. The largest emerald was 48.95 carats and once belonged to King Alfonso XIII of Spain. She wore it for years at glittering social events and eventually it was sold at auction for AIDS and cancer research.
