Dunbar Castle – Clan Dunbar Jigsaw Puzzle

Members of the Dunbar Scottish clan can trace their roots back many centuries – to one of the country’s strongest fortresses and to the mists of history before the Celts arrived in the area. Today, the family’s castle is but a remnant of its former glory. It overlooks the harbor of the town of Dunbar in East Lothian, Scotland. By as early as the 7th century, Dunbar Castle was a main defensive position for the long-forgotten kings of Bernicia. Because of unfortunate political leanings of the clan’s head, the castle was destroyed and rebuilt over the centuries and under various regimes. It was officially “slighted” or ordered completely destroyed by the Parliament of Scotland in December 1567, and in 1568 some of the stone was carried to the shore of Leith and used in the quayside.
