John George Naish, 1824-1905, was an English Victorian era artist who painted fairy and mythological subjects during the 1850’s. Naish’s work has a brilliant Pre-Raphaelite quality. Fairies with butterfly wings play among flowers. The flowers are not those that decorate Tatania’s bower, as describe by Shakespeare, but Victorian favourites – nasturtiums, geraniums, and fuchsias.
