    “"Elves and Fairies, A Midsummer Night’s Dream", painting by John George Naish, 1856; Oil on panel. John George Naish, 1824-1905, was an English Victorian era artist who painted fairy and mythological subjects during the 1850’s. Naish’s work has a brilliant Pre-Raphaelite quality. Fairies and butterfly wings play among flowers; one rides a moth, and others attack a caterpillar. The flowers are not those that decorate Tatania’s bower, as describe by Shakespeare, but Victorian favourites – nasturtiums, geranimus, and fuchias.
