Two students of the Juneau Icefield Research Program enjoy a rare sunset at the normally cloudy Camp 17 on the edge of the Juneau Icefield. This is the first camp used as the students spend two months traversing the icefield by foot and by ski all the while learning about the glaciers, climate, geology and the natural environment that surrounds them. The Juneau Icefield Research Program has been studying the glaciers of Southeast Alaska while training the earth scientists of tomorrow since 1946.
