Although the correct title of the painting is L'Amour et Psyché, Enfants, it was incorrectly titled Le Premier Baiser (The First Kiss) and the name stuck. About the artist: William-Adolphe Bouguereau (1825-1905) was an academic painter in realism and a staunch traditionalist whose realistic style and mythological themes were modern interpretations of classical subjects.
