Fishers Island, New York is set off the coast of southeastern Connecticut, near the Rhode Island border. It was developed in the early 20 th century as a summer retreat for the well-to-do. It housed an army base in the Second World War, due to its strategic location by the Long Island Sound. It has an established year-round citizen base, which increases dramatically in the summer months. My paintings aim to give a sense of the natural beauty of this quiet enclave.
