【Gokani Sumitate Itsutsuwari Manji】The family crest of Yoshida Shoin (Drawn in 2013/5/6) / Shoin attempted to stow away on Perry's second visit to Shimoda and was caught. When an American officer asked for his name, he gave the alias 'Urinaka Manji'. This is a play on the colloquial name 'Manji inside a gourd' for this design, which is Shoin's family crest. (Reference: '100 Stories of Family Crests (Part 2)' by Niwa Kaji) / There are various theories about the alias; others include Kanouchi Manji and Kuwanou Manji.
