A large part of the Peak District National Park lies within the county of Derbyshire, and the Pennine range of hills which extends into the north of the county. Derbyshire borders West Yorkshire to the north; South Yorkshire to the north-east; Nottinghamshire to the east; Leicestershire to the south-east; Staffordshire to the west and south-west; Cheshire also to the west; and Greater Manchester to the north-west. Kinder Scout, at over 2,000 feet, is the highest point in the county.
