Flirt (An Englishman at the Rouge) by Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, colour lithograph print on paper 1892, depicts a gentleman in a tophat flirting vivaciously with two young women in French demi-monde costume in a night club. Though Lautrec was one of the most beloved of the Impressionist and Post-Impressionist artists, his posters and illustrations partook of the late 19th century style of L'Art Nouveau, exemplified here by the bold, flowing, organic outlines and flattened areas of bold colour.
