This image was acquired from a Czech telegram dated 1947. Václav Fiala (1896-1980) - Czech painter, graphic artist, illustrator and etcher. Pupil of renowned Czech painter Max Švabinský of the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, Fiala experimented with the popular art styles of the period. From the 1930's, Fiala favored realism. The main subject of his works were the cultural landscape. In his artistic vision he followed the classical ethnographical studies of Josef Manes. Works by Václav Fiala portray the life and culture of the common people, unaffected by the negative effects of civilisation. His landscapes are portray by rural dwellings, figures of country people and groups of livestock.
