FNC Swans & Cherubs Greeting Card

The central motif of this panel features two mirrored swans perched atop a stylised, footed urn. Seated are two cherubs or "putti" on either side of the base, one gesturing upward towards the floral arrangement, consisting of elaborate foliage swirls, including rosettes and large, curling acanthus-like leaves. These panels are crafted from polished aluminium and are part of the elaborate metalwork adorning the main entryways. While the design draws inspiration from Italian Renaissance and classical ornamentation, it is executed with the sleek, symmetrical lines characteristic of the building's Art Deco/Neoclassical aesthetic. This exterior architectural detail is a part of the intricate Art Deco facade of the First National Centre (formerly the First National Bank Building) in Oklahoma City. Completed in 1931, the building features elaborate ornamental panels, many of which were crafted from polished aluminium, a material considered cutting-edge at the time of construction.
