This painting is "The Fourth of July, 1916” done in 1916 by the American impressionist painter Frederick Childe Hassam (1859-1935). In advance of America entering World War I there were patriotic events held around the country. New York City held a large parade. The peak of the celebration was on the Fourth of July, 1916. It became known as “The Greatest Display of the American Flag Ever Seen in New York.” It is our Fine Art Series no. 212.
